The New York Yankees End series With a 3-2 Victory in Game 5

New York— one by one, almost all the big money boppers had their chance.
Alex Rodriguez, Robinson Cano, Nick Swisher County.
Bases loaded, two runners, just about every important situation. The New York Yankees never invented the clutch hit Thursday night, and suddenly their season finished.
No parade on Broadway not glittering rings World Series to go with 27 others. No fairy-tale ending for Jorge Posada.
Just a long, cold winter to look back and wonder why one of the best baseball queues whiffed when case concerned the most.
Doug Fister and three auxiliary cords Yankee stopped in its tracks, pitching their way from multiple pressure-packed jams and send Detroit Tigers in the AL Championship series with a 3-2 victory in game 5.
"I thought we had it, man," Cano said.
New York manager Joe Girardi tried almost everything. He went to the ZCTU early tugging yourself for the injured rookie Starter Ivan Nova after two shaky innings. CC Sabathia came on the first appearance of the relief of his professional career.
None of that was enough. Bats let the Yankees down.
"It really is a feeling of emptiness," Girardi said, "and it hurt."
Derek Jeter made a bet on a Homer in the eighth, but his drive to right was caught just in front of the fence. Jeffrey Meyer was nowhere was lug it on the wall as a fan made to help the Yankees in the 1996 playoffs.
Literally, the Yankees came up with a little less.
"Anything less than the Championship lost year," mark Teixeira said. "None of us were ready to go home. I don't think any of us thought we are going home. We had a lot of self-confidence.
They went 0 for 4 with the bases loaded and stranded 10. They finished 2 for 9 from begunami in winning position, and neither hit brought to term. Kano hit a solo Homer to give him nine CALVES in the series and Teixeira drew bases-loaded walk.
That's all. Mixing season which showed good celebration 3000 Jeter hit and Mariano Rivera record save ended with a whimper.
"The level of frustration over the roof", Sabathia said.
The Pacific Club, 40-year-old Posada got slaughtered and cut off questions about his future.
"I gave it all on the field," said longtime Yankees catcher in the last year of his contract.
And when Rodriguez, the best finish came down swinging against José Valverde for the final out, the Tigers ran out of the mud huts to celebrate in his field in New York. Bookends for Rodriguez-he whiffed until the end of the season last year, also in the ALCS against Texas.
Batting clean-up and gryzla of injuries down the stretch, Rodriguez hit three times Thursday and went 2 for 18 (0.118) in the series. Immediately behind him, Teixeira was 3, 18 (0.167) and New York was eliminated from the playoffs in Detroit in the first round for the second time in the past six seasons.
"This one especially stings. Obviously, Game 5 at home "said Rodriguez. It’s a game that we felt really good about. We had to win and we had the opportunity there late."
Twice, the Yankees loaded the bases with one of them. They managed only one run. Russell Martin and Brett Gardner jumped out to end the fourth. Swisher County went down swinging on a high note to finish seventh.
"Feeling in my stomach right now, it's just unpleasant sensations," noted Swisher County.
Earlier in the inning, a-Rod was booed after fans with bags full of for second place.
"This is a key in volatile strain you are looking for. I mean, this is a dream in the bat. This volatile mice I pleasure and I really believe I had something to do there, in a positive manner, "Rodriguez said. "He gave me one splitter that I fired him, and I could not dismiss the other."
Facing elimination in Detroit, Yankees earned a respite on Tuesday. Two breathtaking catches Filder Curtis Granderson Centre helped shaky Starter A.J. Burnett save season with a 10-1 victory in game 4.
Back home in the Bronx, 50960 fans turned out to see New York in advance to his third straight Championship series al. Fister, Max Scherzer, Joaquin Benoit and Valverde has spoiled.
"I tried to do all he could, he's just not happening," said Teixeira.
Nova went 16-4 with a 3.70 ERA this year, leading major league rookies in WINS. He won 12 straight important decisions of the League to close the season and earned another victory in its unusual playoff debut.
24-year-old right-handed relieved Sabathia in game 1, the day after it was suspended by rain. Nova picked up the next day in the third inning and held Detroit scoreless in the ninth inning 9-3 victory.
So the Yankees had a lot of reasons to feel good about their Super Nova in a critical situation. In the end, he lost in large firms with 3 June.
NOTES: Young was removed on defense in the seventh with a mild strain of a muscle on his left side. He will be evaluated further on Friday. ... Young also had solo shots in Games 1 and 3. ... Sabathia can opt out of the $161 million, seven-year contract he signed with the Yankees before the 2009 season.
