Facebook IPO Expected to Boost Silicon Valley Economy

Facebook IPO Expected to Boost Silicon Valley Economy

It is expected that Facebook IPO will be a gift not only for the technology sector, but also for local entrepreneurs, who stated that they are smarter and better prepared to avoid the catastrophe of previous dotcom bubble.

Leonard Mezhvinsky, developer Millbro, California, spent the past three years, the construction of real estate in Hillsborough, 30 minutes north of the Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park. He expects $ 13 million; six-bedroom house is scheduled for completion in August or September, just in time for the employee Facebook recently rich from the initial public offering to spend a little money.

"It's very simple», Mezhvinsky said the question as Facebook in the IPO will affect the local real estate. "Facebook IPO instantly create several millionaires when they sell their shares to cash will look for higher end properties in and outside of San Francisco."

Mezhvinsky, the main winner on the development of the property, said that he had seen an increase in activity on the local market. He said that the growing interest in the property may be due to multi-millionaires cashing in stock or forecasting cash flow, after an initial public offering of nearby companies gamemaker Zynga in December and a social media site LinkedIn in May.

Early workers, or those with higher tenure, such as the founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and many of his colleagues at Harvard, along with a team executive, is likely to have a majority of the shares of companies in more than 3,000 employees.

Mezhvinsky expects the wealth created from Facebook in the IPO dwarf, Zynga and LinkedIn together, although it will not instantaneously, as employees with stock options have to wait months to cash in their shares, and the newly rich usually takes some time to adjust to their newfound wealth, he said.

"They still live in apartments and small houses, and suddenly they have a $ 20 million IPO shares," said Mezhvinsky.

There are also rumors of speculators pulling out of property not far from the Facebook headquarters, in the hope of flipping the properties of the newly-rich workers. But Mezhvinsky said that developers were more cautious than they were before the dotcom bubble for more than ten years ago.

"Developers who are not careful, probably bankrupt now. Those who were semi-cautious now fully cautious," he said. "But as the economy improves in three or four years that will go away caution, as he always does."

Mezhvinsky, who began working in Silicon Valley in 2007, says developers who previously built three or four houses, before the real estate bubble may be set up one or two these days.

He said that "Every person in the cut of the risk-taking."

Ron Gong, managing director of financial management and advisory firm Harris myCFO wealth in Palo Alto, said that riches have attracted service providers, regardless of if it's Silicon Valley or elsewhere. But as people spend money and invest is different compared to the era of dotcom.

"Business models have been tested, and there is more experience," he said. "So the more realistic assumptions and a return to the basics of business, are used."

Hong, who worked in wealth management business in the area for 23 years, said most of the recent creation of wealth in Silicon Valley is due to social media and related technologies.

Harris myCFO, which means "a comprehensive Family Office", also has entrepreneurial roots in Silicon Valley. Hong said his company was accustomed to working with the ultra-affluent, who have at least $ 25 million in investable assets, and those who can not yet in this class of wealth, but it can be.

"Those are the people we want to work closely with and invest in them," he said.

Gong said that he could not disclose whether his client has worked for social media companies in Silicon Valley.

But he said: "We know very well all these companies, and in the heart of Silicon Valley, we are well versed in the management of wealth, which come on a daily basis."

Glencore and Xstrata in $80 billion merger talks

London - The mining group Xstrata and commodities trader Glencore are negotiating the transaction all share, which would create a combined group worth more than 50 billion pounds (79 billion U.S. dollars).
Trader largest diversified commodities in the world already owns 34 percent stake in Xstrata and bonds between the two Swiss business - potentially a big seizure to date in the industry - has long been expected as Glencore is designed to add more minutes to their trading CLOUT.
Speculation has accelerated after Glencore in bumper $ 10 billion listing in May, which gave the trader and his ambitious executive Ivan Glasenberg currency transactions. The list also allows the market to establish the value of Glencore - a key requirement of Xstrata shareholders and its management.
Glencore - a trader of metals, minerals and oil, which is also currently, has assets of mines to agricultural land - said at the time of going to the motives of the public after nearly four decades as a private company was to take advantage of acquisition. However, to date he has been restrained, foreclosures in minority Australian nickel producer Minara on and search for control of South African coal miner Optimum.
"It is expected that these two companies together and it's obviously a little faster than we expected, but it makes sense, considering how the company operates and the current market position, says an analyst at Collins Stewart, Tim Dudley.
Glencore shares fell nearly 17% since its inclusion, but it is still effective drop Xstrata.
News that Xstrata, the world's fourth-largest diversified group, has received a specific approach and in the discussions, the growth of both companies' shares, sending Xstrata to 13 percent and Glencore more than 5 percent in early London trading.
Glencore in Hong Kong traded shares gained 6 percent to trade was suspended.
"It confirms why Glencore became public. They are the capital to buy other companies, "said Ion-Marc Valahu, a fund manager at Geneva firm ClairInvest.
Both sides said there is no assurance that the proposal will be made and the deal was described as a proportion of all the "union of equal," which would mean a friendly transaction with no premium.
Both sides have very little overlap on the side of the mountain, means the combined entity, "Glen layers" will get a synergistic effect on certain areas of marketing, but otherwise will combine industry and operational assets, which will create a huge presence in copper and coal, among other products.
Merger of equals
Any deal would also have to be friendly, and means Glasenberg Executive Mick Davis Xstrata would have to agree on one thing that has so far kept the two friends - the valuation.
Davis and his Chairman John Bond, is expected to accept any agreement that does not contain any material up to the shareholders.
Glencore, although a shareholder cannot vote on the deal, leaving the decision with the agencies.
"(M) Makes a lot of sense. I think he should come, then," said Charles Stanley analyst Tom Gidle-Kitchin.
"It will be interesting to see whether the individual has a role in it - I think that would be resistant to the merger, which does not include a decent premium to Xstrata Mick Davis, but it will be interesting to see."
Xstrata himself made a "merger of equals" request for Anglo-American in 2009, but not after Davis has steadfastly refused to offer a premium.
Glasenberg Glencore has publicly stated that he sees value in a deal with Xstrata, while Davis said the prospect of both analysts as self-listed companies was "unsustainable."
If Glencore to buy all outstanding shares of Xstrata at current market prices, which will cost about 21 billion pounds, making it the largest deal in the sector with the acquisition of Rio Tinto's aluminum producer Alcan in 2007.

After Christmas Sales 2011

After Christmas Sales 2011: Smart consumers have realized that the best time to buy Christmas gifts are within the "After Christmas Sale" period, which usually follows the pre-Christmas sales.

Many people fall into the trap of Advent and Christmas gifts to buy at inflated prices, just to know that "After Christmas sales" prices are much lower for the same item as a pre-Christmas period.

At this year's 3D car shows that we were planning our Christmas presents on the basis of "After Christmas sales" period. We decided instead of expensive Christmas gifts for friends and family, we're going to keep our budget of less than $ 100.00 for Christmas, and instead give the normal $ 250 - $ 1000.00 per gift, we're going to give expensive New Year gifts and to give our families and loved ones the things they really want in a New Year's Day.

We use after a period of Christmas sales to buy things that will cost us much more time during the pre-Christmas than on the day after Christmas.

We also learned from the previous Christmas, it's a good idea to have a store in this Christmas to Christmas next year by buying wisely when just after Christmas, when almost all the goods on sale, and you can easily find the best buys everything.

After Christmas sales begin on the day after Christmas:

Although prices will still be better in the days just after Christmas, we learned that on the day after Christmas the best day to buy popular items. Immediately after Christmas the day after Christmas sales start, and can go up to January. However, if you're after high quality products and top sellers is the best time to buy these things on the day after Christmas. If you wait too long, these products may disappear from the shelves, and you'll have to pay the normal price for these products when stores get stock again.

Internets Strategy after Christmas Sales

This year, retailers has done a lot to their Web sites also feature hot after Christmas sales items. If you do not want to spend the day after Christmas in the stores, you can go online and look for the best route products online. If you want to compare prices is also a good idea to use the Internet, where you can go to Walmart to by Apple and Best Buy, Kohls and Target for a few seconds, rather than from store to store, which may take a couple of hours to make, if you had to ride through the snow to the stores!

To maximize the best aftermarket Christmas, we still recommend that you go to the store itself, where you can find individual shops offering management after the event New Year sale.

After Christmas sales 2011

many companies, the media began reporting on after Christmas sales and it is expected that in 2011, after Christmas sales to reach record levels this year!

Ed Lee vetoes SF health care bill

Mayor Ed Lee on Tuesday released his first veto since taking office in January, describing the legislation to close a loophole in the law in San Francisco, requiring employers to provide some funding for their workers health care costs are bad for business.

"This law is aimed at solving an important problem, but it imposes overly broad approach to solving a discrete set of issues," Lee said in his veto message.

Board of Trustees approved a proposal to vote on 05/06 last week, creating a collision with Lee for several weeks until 8 November mayoral election, which polls show him as the favorite in the field of 16 candidates.

Four of his rivals, the head of John Avalos, City Attorney Dennis Herrera, City Judge-Recorder Phil Ting and state Sen. Leland Yee, made it clear that they will veto Lee campaign, having rallied on the steps of City Hall this month urging him to support the plan.

It is unlikely that legislation will sponsor eight votes to overcome a veto. But director David Campos, the chief sponsor of the legislation, said Lee, "San Francisco takes a wrong direction" by limiting the financing of uninsured workers can gain access to pay for their health care needs.

Campos said he is considering the adoption of its proposals the electorate. It takes four executives to place the measure on the ballot.

Campos plan goal of providing the innovation of health care law, which allows employers to set up individual health reimbursement accounts for uninsured workers. Involvement of employers contributes up to $ 4252 annually per employee account, but any unused money at the end of the year may come back to the employer.

Last year 860 companies from about 4,000 are covered by the law contributed to a combined 62.5 million dollars in compensation accounts, but only $ 12.4 million employed workers. Employers pocket relaxation.

The amendment Campos, unspent money will be accumulated in the accounts. Only after the employee has been off salary for 18 months, the employer can get your money back.

Business owners and their trade associations said that it will force them to lay off workers, postpone expansion plans, get out of town or close by.

Lee says he is willing to offer would be bad for business, he believes changes are needed.

One of his goals, he said that the companies be less stringent, as money can be used. Some employers, for example, will not reimburse workers for health insurance premiums or to enroll in the plan of the city, making use of public clinics and hospitals.

Campos amendment, he said, will not increase access to health care or job protection. “Moreover, the money, pulled out of our local economy, will not be available for payment of wages or grow a business," Lee said supervisors.

The mayor has formed a working group, whether a compromise could be a mediator, and Lee said in his veto letter that he was "sure, there is a legal way forward."

Meanwhile, the Board of Trustees President David Chiu proposed various amendments to address a loophole. Under his version, at least a year worth of unused employer contributions should always be available to avoid the use-it-or-lose-it scenario.

The board was to vote on the plan Tszyu on Monday, but at his insistence, with a delay in consideration for one week.

Chiu, Campos, and Lee all agree that employers should work better, to tell the workers how to access recovery funds, and want to prevent restaurants from the placement for an additional fee to their patrons' accounts for health-care services, if money is actually used for this purpose.

"Once we past this week, I look forward to working with my colleagues to find a solution," said Chiu, who is also running for mayor

McDonald announced on Monday that the boneless pork barbecue sandwich, usually available only in a few stores at the time, will be sold at all locations across the U.S. on November 14.
Most of the time, it is up to local franchisees, to determine when and if they want to sell the McRib - with the exception of Germany, the only place where it is always available.
McDonald said the response was so great that in November last year when he made the McRib available nationally for about three weeks; she decided to return it nationwide this year. The company, which has not previously sold the McRib nationally since 1994, declined to give sales figures.
Sandwich, which is dressed with onions, pickle slices and barbecue sauce, was introduced nationally in 1982 With 500 calories and 26 grams of fat, it's a little trimmer than Big Mac, which has 540 calories and 29 grams of fat. And just like the Big Mac, McRib McDonald's has become a popular offering.
There are Facebook groups like "Bring McRib!" There is a Twitter tag, when the positions in a range of «Lucky me, McRib has returned" to "If you eat McRibs, need to review what you really want in life."
Last year, the guy who won the McDonald's $ 1 million grand prize was a monopoly of the order - you guessed it - McRib. Earlier this month, former Playmate Jenny McCarthy contacted the site McRib Locator to help find a McRib in Southern California: it is found in Fountain Valley.
The creator of the site, Alan Klein, said he suspected something was when traffic exploded from about 150 hits a day to about 4,000 in the last week or so, as more fans, according to the observations. People are sending him pictures of their variations McRib: McRib with lettuce and tomato, McRib with bacon, three McRibs each other.
Klein, a meteorologist in the area of Minneapolis, runs the site in his free time with his wife, Kimberly. He created the Locator in 2008 because he wanted to learn how to use Google Maps to work, and because he has fond memories of eating pork sandwich while growing up on a farm pig.
"We've been spoiled this year and last year with him being around all over the country," he said. "But I hope he remains elusive, because otherwise no one would come to our website."
If the McRib is so popular, why not offer him the whole time? McDonald's likes to stoke enthusiasm, with an aura of transience.
"Bringing it back so often adds excitement," said Marta Fearon, McDonald's U.S. marketing director, who said she was not sure that the McRib would reappear every fall.
And how can it be called a McRib if it doesn't have any bones?  Said Fearon: "That gives it this quirky sense of humor."

Highlights: Jobs' biographer on '60 Minutes'

An interview with 60 Minutes, Walter Isaacson, the biographer of the authorized Apple, founder and former CEO Steve Jobs, who has been featured on CBS News about the United States at 7 pm local time on Sunday evening.
Segment; there are two and a half weeks after the passage of Jobs, and less than 24 hours prior to the bookshelves Isaacson biography hits. Excerpts from the biography, which contains information obtained from interviews with more than 100 people, including his friend, and about 40 interviews with Jobs himself has appeared in many media.
Below, we have identified some highlights from the transcript of the segment on Sunday evening. You can watch the full segment here.
Jobs Isaacson invited to write his biography seven years ago. Isaacson idea for "presumptuous and premature, since Jobs was still a young man." Isaacson did not know that at the time was that Jobs was about to undergo surgery for pancreatic cancer.
- Isaacson describes Jobs as "insolent" and "fragile." "He could be very, very much want people from time to time. Whether it was a waitress at a restaurant, or a guy who stayed up all night coding. ... And you would say," Why did you do it, why not Is it better? And he said: "I really want to be with people that need improvement. And this is who I am, "says Isaacson.
- Isaacson attributes much personality Jobs and drive to a few key moments in his childhood. Isaacson tells an anecdote involving the construction of the fence with his foster father, Paul. "And [Paul] said, 'You must do the back of the fence, which no one will see as good looking as the front fence. Although no one will see it, you know, and it shows that you "re an effort to make something perfect."
- The work was also influenced by the Bay Area, and not only Hewlett-Packard, offices located nearby, but his counter-culture spirit. "He was a kind of hippie-ish rebel child, loved to listen to the music Dylan, dropped acid, but he loved electronics," Isaacson describes. He says that when Jobs was working on the game maker Atari, they should have put him on the night shift, because he walked barefoot and never bathed, and employees do not want to work with him.
- The work took seven months to go from Atari, to travel to India. His meetings there, and Zen Buddhism "really informed his design sense," says Isaacson. "This notion that simplicity is the ultimate complexity [came from that trip]."
When Jobs returned, he began to make a primitive computer for the fans in the garage of his parents, Steve Wozniak, founder of another company, Apple. They started with $ 1,300. By the time Jobs was 25 Apple was worth "maybe $ 50 million," Jobs said in a tape Isaacson. "I knew that I never had to worry about money again."
- Work as a natural disdain for authority and felt that the usual rules do not apply to him, Isaacson explains. One manifestation of this principle could be seen in the sports coupe Mercedes he owned, which he refused to put on the license plate.
Isaacson says the House Jobs in Palo Alto, quite unremarkable. "[It's] house in the street with a normal a normal sidewalk. No big winding road. No large security fence," Isaacson said. He recalls that Jobs said that he "did not want to live that nutso lavish lifestyle that so many people when they become rich."
- Work really met his biological father, who once ran a restaurant in Silicon Valley. But the job never revealed her father, who he was. "I was in this restaurant once or twice, and I remember meeting the owner, who was from Syria," Jobs said on the tape. "And it was, of course, [the father]. And I shook his hand and he shook my hand. That's all."
- Cancer Steve Jobs was discovered by accident when he was checked for kidney stones in 2004. A cat scan revealed malignant tumors in the pancreas. Jobs delay surgery to remove it for nine months until he tried the number of natural remedies first. By the time he was operated on, the cancer has spread to tissues around the pancreas. Isaacson says he believes Jobs regretted the delay.
- During 2008, Jobs continued to receive the secret of cancer treatment, although he told everyone that he was cured. Cancer has spread to his liver at this time.
- In the past two and a half years of his life, Jobs did not want to go out or travel, but I wanted to focus on the products he built for Apple: namely, iPhone and IPad. "I think he would have liked to have won television [as well]," says Isaacson. "He wanted to make an easy to use TV. ... But he began to focus on his family again as well. And it was a painful brutal fight. And he will say to me often about the pain."
- The work is sometimes brought up the topic of death in their most recent meetings. "I saw my life as an arc, it is over, and over that nothing mattered," Jobs said in an interview revealed. "You're born alone, you'll die alone. And is anything else really matter? I mean, what exactly is it that you have to lose Steve? Did you know? There's nothing. "
- Jobs also said that he began to believe in the existence of God "is a bit more." "Maybe it's because I want to believe in an afterlife. It's when you die, it is not just all disappear. Wisdom you have accumulated. Once she lives," Jobs said on the tape. He paused before he continued: "Yes, but sometimes I think that is the same as the switch. Click and you're gone. And that's why I do not like to wear-breakers on devices Apple."

Apple said IOS 5 includes over 200 new features. The nine issue.
Software updates over the Wi-Fi.
Android users have long enjoyed wirelessly synchronize and update the software. Apple, had to catch up, and, finally, there is. You must connect your device to your computer IOS with the cable serves only to remind users how IOS, limiting them. Good riddance.

iCloud support
Although iCloud is not well suited for backing up large amounts of data - Apple only offers up to 50 GB - users with a modest number of images and multimedia files to find the service convenient way to make their files available to all of its IOS and Mac OS X Lion devices. Of course, this is better than the old method - a synchronization cable to ITunes and drag and drop to copy files from ITunes to your desktop.
IMessage
On the IMessage, you can send an unlimited number of text messages at no cost except your time to other IOS 5 users. Best of all, you do not have to change your text habits - IMessage service in Messaging application.

Apple's version of the To-Do List is important because the reminders based on location and work through Ceske, Outlook, and iCloud. Thus, a reminder to stop by the drugstore on the way home will appear on your iPhone, as you walk into a pharmacy. Reminders can be set using the Siri, the new voice recognition software available in the upcoming iPhone from Apple 4S.
Twitter Integration
Now you can log in to twitter and tweet times from different applications, including cameras, maps, photos, Safari and YouTube. And fortunately, Apple has not made the existing Twitter clients superfluous.
Under the hood
Along with visible improvements in the mail from Apple and calendar applications, IOS, there are many new features in Cisco IOS 5, which are not always obvious. Many of these are related to any IOS devices interface with corporate IT systems. For example, IT administrators can disable the email forwarding to prevent the messages from the company sent to external accounts. They can also turn off the synchronization with iCloud or ITunes, thus limiting the replication of files on personal systems.
New Interfaces API
Apple represents 1,500 new API for developers that allow third party developers to use the IOS five improvements. So in the coming months, we expect to see a lot of applications that integrate with other services and iCloud Apple.
IOS 5 requires iPhone 3GS, 4 or 4S, IPod Touch 3rd or 4th generation, or any of the two models IPad released so far. It is available through Itunes.

New video, including an early review of the new iPhone 4S and 5 will appear in the IOS YouTube.
Lucky few are now enjoying the new iPhone 4S (not the iPhone 5) 5 and IOS operating system. In fact, new videos demonstrating the new smartphone from Apple, iPhone 4S and preloaded operating system IOS 5, is now available in the popular video sharing site to Google YouTube. See all videos embedded below this post.
One of the best preview video posted this is my site then, quickly, and excellent video review of the new iPhone of Apple 4S. Joshua Topolsky According to the editor main web site, an 8-megapixel main camera, the new iPhone 4S "took some of the most beautiful, clear photos" from your mobile device, adding that if you plan to replace the point-and-shoot, iPhone 4S is an excellent replacement.

Apple also claimed that the iPhone 4S seize new A5 dual-core chip. Features such as white balance, better, faster, photo capture, and less shaky video courtesy of 'video stabilization "feature. Apple also added that the iPhone 4S is the fastest camera with 1.1 second delay shooting, compared with 3,0 Motorola Droid Bionic + seconds in the delay and 2,2 II Samsung Galaxy S in the second delay.
Another video from Outware Mobile, testing a new application Siri, an exclusive new feature voice commands to the iPhone 4S. Apparently, the video shows that Siri does not rely on an English accent.
Macworld also has its iPhone 4S Siri application demos. Macworld tested the ability of the Siri to quickly show the weather forecast, the ability to play music, check out the nearest restaurant, and dictated by SMS, notes and other messaging services. However, MacWorld test showed that Siri is still in "beta", and not able to do some voice commands.
Siri is part of the IOS 5, but apparently there is Siri iPhone 4S exclusive feature. Rumor has it requires a dual-core chip Siri A5, so it's quite possible that IPad 2 (with new chip A5) will receive Siri in the near future (fingers crossed).

HTC Flyer Tablet Briefly Listed At $99.00

It's never enough to see a cherished friend flounder aimlessly in a desperate attempt to feel young and relevant years after that part of their lives went past. Maybe they're ridiculous comb over. Maybe they dress up as 15-year-old girl even if they're pushing 50. Maybe they are flirting with a spectacular price increases for the tablet computer signature.

This morning, pill HTC Flyer was briefly listed for sale at a staggering price of $ 99.00. To put this in perspective, when the device began back in May, a basic version costs $ 500.00 plus an extra $ 80 for customers who want an extra stylus. This may sound to compete with the IPAD, but despite 16 GB of memory, small 7-inch screen kind of did that price looks like a slap in the faces of the scars of a recession, consumers, and they responded accordingly.

In the original full price Flyer did not sell very well, so it was announced last week that the price will be reduced to a more reasonable $ 299.00. It sounded like a good idea until the fire kept his Amazon viciously undermined $ 199,00 price was announced. Now Kindle fire enjoys record pre-orders and Flyer stuck trying to suck in his gut and brush over this aberrant calva.

Although it might make sense for HTC, to further reduce the price tags Flyer in the light of the success of the Kindle Fire, falling as it looks to be financially suicidal and, indeed, Best Buy now argues that the $ 99.00 price was a mistake. Currently Flyer again listed in $ 299,00 and Best Buy said that orders made in the course of a brief $ 99.00 window will not run. People who made these purchases will need to either pony up the entire amount, or get a refund. Despite this, you have to wonder if this "bug" was a matter of time, rather than price. HTC might be willing to accept a financial loss if it maintains its pills. I bet even if $ 99.00 mistake was that in fact, we'll see another flyer drop to Christmas selling season begins.

The Future of Apple Without Steve Jobs

Steve jobs left. He died too young and, of course, with lots of innovative ideas is still brewing. This is not surprising, but it is already reality. (See: Apple founder Steve Jobs Dies: reflections on its heritage)

Print Jobs and influence at Apple, will remain for many years. However, his management team can no longer count on his presence, voice and impeccable taste.

How will this affect Apple?

As Aaron and Henry Blodžet discussed in the accompanying clip, soon is irrelevant. Apple, will remain one of the most valuable companies in the world, thanks to strong sales of Macs, iPhones and iPads. The company seems to have incredible momentum over the next few product cycles, largely thanks to the technological vision of Jobs and marketing brilliance.

The technology sector is probably the most competitive industry in the world. Genius Steve Jobs was to create a product nobody even knew what they wanted before Apple had built them. He did not invent the personal computer, digital music player, or Smartphone and tablets, but his creation so fundamentally changed the market, it may also. (See: IPod, iPhone, IPad) nobody knows better than the Apple as a product or promotion can change consumer demand in untold ways. (See: Blackberry v. iPhone)

Can Apple to continue to innovate without work?

IPhone has a 27% market share in the Smartphone category, according to the latest statistics from Comscore. This second place after Android from Google with 44% of the market. Rest assured that Google is trying to increase its share of the pie with the acquisition of Motorola's Mobility. And while iPhone 4S will likely fly shelves he disappoint some hoping to see the iPhone 5. Apple shares fell after the announcement on Tuesday dropped and modestly on Wednesday morning in response to the death of Jobs.

In a tablet, the IPad dominates. It controls 73 percent of the market and expects that at least 50% of the shares until 2014, said that the industry research company Gartner. Competition is still weak, but the new Amazon Kindle a fire may change this situation. Even if it does not change the rules of the game, competitors will continue to try.

This does not mean Apple will fail without Steve Jobs. They continue to be in good hands. Apple certainly, talented engineers, managers and leaders. CEO Tim Cook was steering the ship over the past few years as Vacancies battled his health problems. The company excelled at this time. Another part of the puzzle, Jonathan Ive continues. Ive is a leading designer for almost every big Apple product developed in the last decade and half.

In the end, the only thing that we know everything will be different. And, as Steve Jobs has proved different have the potential to be much better.

Westboro Baptist Church uses iPhone to announce protest at Steve Jobs’s funeral

Westboro Baptist Church announced plans on Wednesday evening to protest the funeral of Steve Jobs, send a message from ... wait ... via Twitter for iPhone.

Topeka, Kansas based Church consists mainly of family members, but Phelps grew to international shame because of their protests the funerals of celebrities and American soldiers. Church members believe that God punished America for its tolerance to sin, including acceptance of homosexuality.

IPhone owning Westboro members seemed unable to find any irony in its embrace of human technology, which they condemn. One of the members of the Church even suggested that God used to help advance Jobs message to Westboro Baptist Church: "God be Steve Jobs create amazing things for the WBC to preach," writes Shirley Phelps-Roper.

New iPhone

Cupertino, California-most closely kept secret about the iPhone 5? There isn't one yet.
The new iPhone is faster, has better camera and allows you to synchronize data without having to use a computer. It includes futuristic, voice service that responds to voice commands and questions such as "do I need an umbrella today?" it will now be available for Sprint customers, as well as those from AT & T and Verizon Wireless.
But there is one caveat. Apple, called him a 4S when most people were expecting iPhone 5. Immediately, those bloggers and Apple fans began to wonder if this new iPhone not so cool as they had hoped. Investors were disappointed too. Shares of Apple fell more than 5 per cent before late kick.
If the opening on Tuesday seemed disappointed that this happened because Apple does not do a good job of managing expectations. It's a familiar problem for Apple, whose penchant for secrecy invites hyperbolic speculation among its product announcements. Given that it's been 16 months since the last iPhone came on the market, the imagination even longer to wild at this time.
"This is a typical scenario for Apple: people all want to do is impossible," said Tim Badžarin, an analyst at creative strategies, who follows the company for decades.
Apple's approach, the event had not done any favours for Tim Cook, in her first major public statement since he replaced Steve Jobs as Director six weeks ago. Jobs, Apple, visionary and co-founder, left the reins to focus on his health problems.
Cooke ignored her statement in the pedestrian way that lacked talent Jobs. Format and scenery were similar to the presentation that Jobs has so masterfully that gives Cook little opportunity to make their mark, said Adam Hanft, marketing consultant, who runs his own firm in New York.
"It was dishonest to Tim in his inauguration because he did not have any product to show that was a real barnburner" Hanft said.
"This enabled him to get his sea legs, but he still must find their own voice and style. They must invent a new option that Apple equally as aesthetically pleasing, but not the same as they had while Steve was there."
Although iPhone 4S was an improvement over its predecessor, it is not perceived as a breakthrough partly because it is not thought of the iPhone 5, as most people were expecting, "said Prashant Malaviâ, Professor of marketing at the University of Georgetown.
Not all investors were disappointed.
Stephen Coleman, Director of investment capital and investors to Daedalus Apple in 2004, calls its Apple shares "safe investments that I have." he said, updates on Tuesday were "extra" and praised the Apple to not tinker too much with a model that works.
"For those who say that they are ecstatic, I'd say that they were fast asleep," said Coleman. "Anyone who pays attention at all to be blinded by product and income".
Shares grew by more than 15 percent this year, at one point hit all-time high of $ 422,86. This is almost four times from the first iPhone was announced in 2007 year. The device was the cornerstone of one of the most remarkable works in the history of technology. Apple is now one of the most richly valued companies in the world, holding their own against oil companies and international conglomerates.
"Here to complain?" Coleman said. "For people like me is peace on Earth. This is one of the big economic stories of our time. "
The new iPhone has advanced high-resolution camera sensor. Processor faster-the same chip A5 found in the IPad 2-so what phone will be able to work smoothly, more realistic action games. It is also a "world phone", which means that Verizon Iphones will be useful abroad, as well as AT & T Iphones already have.
The fact that more radical revision of the phone was not show leaves room for speculation that Apple will reveal a new model for less than a year, perhaps one is equipped to take advantage of Verizon and AT & T's new high-speed data networks.
There were also rumors that Apple will include chip, which could speak with payment terminals in retail stores, turning iPhone into a mobile wallet. Competitors start to include this feature in their phones, although payment systems still immature. IPhone 4S does not have this.
IPhone 4S would go with the new mobile software that includes features such as the ability to synchronize content wirelessly, without having to connect the device to a Mac or Windows machine. Siri is built into the phone, which lets people talk questions and commands and is an advanced version of the speech programmers

Jackson Hole

Jackson Hole: LONDON, - Gold prices arrested this week's slide on Friday to rise nearly 1 percent ahead of a speech from Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, later, which will be closely watched for hints on the outlook for Fed monetary policy.
The metal is still set for its first weekly loss in eight, however, as investors took profits after its surge to record highs at $1,911.46 on Tuesday. Volatility spiked, with prices sliding more than $200 from that level by Thursday.
They have since recovered, with spot gold up 1 percent at $ 1,786.86 an ounce at 0921 GMT.

"Volatility is ... about 65 percent higher than in 2010, the average," said Ole Hansen, a senior manager at Saxo Bank. "This tells us that, despite the upward trend is firmly intact, we should expect violent adjustments as we go forward."

"Weak speculative longs are now blurred, and the market settles down on Bernanke. QE3 or not QE3, it does not change soon heavyweight prospects for economic activity and concerns about the health of the banking sector and the public debt."

It will be widely watched Bernanke on the financial markets, hoping for some indication of the U.S. central bank ready to intervene to support the economic recovery.

It is seen as unlikely to announce a third round of the Fed buying bonds, or quantitative easing. The Fed has bought $ 2.3 trillion in long-term securities.

Hansen, Saxo Bank said while the market could correct further, if not more, quantitative easing will be announced that he did not expect that gold will drop below $ 1,700 an ounce.

"This sale reflects the past, some scaling down of expectations QE3 suggests that the reaction of gold potential for disappointment today may be less severe," said UBS in a note.

"Although we believe that the bulk of sales will be made, the fragility of investor sentiment for gold at the moment and a rebound in the last 12 hours could mean that gold will suffer further losses, though smaller than in recent days."

U.S. gold futures GCv1 for August delivery rose $ 26.40 an ounce to $ 1,789.60.

MARKET SHARES RETREAT

On the wider markets, European shares slipped on Friday, while the euro firmed a touch versus the dollar and industrial commodities like oil and copper eased. German government bonds held steady ahead of Bernanke's speech.
Outflows from the world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded funds also dried up on Thursday, with its holdings remaining at 1,232.3 tonnes. It is still on track to post an outflow of nearly 60 tonnes this week, however.

"Now that the short-term traders (a) booked profits in gold futures and ETFs, there are also individuals buyers, who moved to the last meeting, and who will choose to keep their desires," said VTB Capital in a note.

Among other precious metals, silver prices retreated 0.5 percent to $ 40.80 an ounce.

Metal could not send its usual stellar earnings on the back of the last rally of gold, as investors burned him a sharp correction in prices earlier this year - when he fell more than 30 percent in less than a week - remain cautious.

The gold: silver ratio, representing the number of silver ounces needed to buy an ounce of gold, stood at around 43 on Friday, well above the level around 30 it traded near in April when both metals hit record highs.

Fahrenheit 451

Fahrenheit 451: Ray Bradbury, who authored books in genres like science fiction, fantasy and horror, including Fahrenheight 451, turned 91 on Aug. 22.
Fahrenheit 451, a dystopian novel, was first published in a shorter form as The Fireman in 1953. The short novel presents a future American society in which the masses are hedonistic.

The site is located in the future, when lawlessness prevailing in American streets. With teenagers crash cars into the crowd to fire hunting animals for the simple and grotesque pleasure of watching them die, it is society that has lost self-control.

Books are banned, and anyone caught reading or storing a confined to a psychiatric hospital.

Bradbury was "raised in the libraries," aspired to be a magician and a writer, and yes, he made his dream come true. He began at once.

Bradbury, who served as the creative consultant on the United States Pavilion at the 1964 World's Fair, hosted the syndicated television series The Ray Bradbury Theatre, from 1985 to 1992. Many of his works are known to have inspired films, television scripts, radio programs and comic books.
In 2000, the Illinois native was awarded the National Book Foundation's Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters.

Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless: Verizon Wireless has joined forces with Intuit in order to sell and distribute their GoPayment credit card reader among their 2300 stores and other distribution channels. These handy little devices connect via the headphone jack on most Apple, Android and BlackBerry smartphones and tablets.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but it can be a very profitable move for Verizon, offering consumers the incentive to make their next smartphone or tablet buys one of their retail outlets.

Earlier this spring, we reported IPad applications optimized specifically for GoPayment, concluding that it looked like a convenient way to process credit card transactions with a lower monthly payment or a transaction fee.

While there are other card reading devices available on the market from companies such as Square or Veriphone, Intuit may be a better choice given their reputation and history with financial software as the developers of QuickBooks, Quicken and TurboTax. This is especially relevant if you are using QuickBooks because you can download your transaction information directly from the device itself without any additional hassle.
If you are interested in giving this payment solution a try, Verizon Wireless customers can request the device for free (after a $ 30 mail-in rebate) and if you opt into the monthly subscription you will receive the first two months at no charge.
Intuit is now a device available for free on their website as well, but these purchases do not come from training or support services that Verizon Wireless will offer as a companion for their sale.

GoPayment service provides full compatibility with all major credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. It would be nice if in the future was also an opportunity to Interac.

Wall Street up as JPMorgan lifts debt gloom

Wall Street up as JPMorgan lifts debt gloom :NEW YORK: Stocks rose after the open on Thursday as higher profit from JPMorgan offset concern about Moody's threat to downgrade the United States' top credit rating if the federal debt ceiling is not raised.
A report showing a drop in new claims for U.S. jobless benefits last week also boosted stocks.

The Euro Crisis: How Much Worse Can It Get?

The Euro Crisis: How Much Worse Can It Get? :With the euro staggering from one crisis to the next, the 17 euro-zone nations are facing some tough questions, but the most pressing one this week seemed to be about scheduling: is it serious enough to warrant an emergency summit meeting? Plans for a Friday gathering in Brussels were hastily rolled out on Tuesday, but when German Chancellor Angela Merkel nixed them the next day, they were just as sharply postponed. If the euro zone's leaders can't even agree when to meet, what hope is there for the euro itself?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        With every passing day bringing ever-worse news, the leaders will doubtless be wondering how bad it can get. You could say that crisis management is the euro zone's current default mode - if the word "default" was not such a loaded term when it comes to the debts of certain embattled members of Europe's single currency. (Read how the Greek economic crisis is threatening the euro.)
Just two weeks ago, Greece narrowly passed an austerity law aimed at securing key funding and buying precious time for the embattled euro zone, which is still struggling to put together a second Greek bailout package. Yet the respite lasted only a brief moment before the euro once again tumbled into a downward spiral that shows no sign of recovering.
On Wednesday, credit-ratings agency Moody's downgraded Irish government debt to junk status, following similar downgrades for Portugal last week and Greece last year. Thanks to the growth-choking austerity demands of their bailouts, none of the three countries are expected to see a quick turnaround in their fortunes. According to analysis by Citigroup banking group, Greece's ratio of gross debt to output will have risen to 180% by 2014, while Ireland's will grow to 145% and Portugal's 135%. (See photos of the protests in Athens.)
And as much as it dominates the debate, leaving the euro zone is not an easy option. Daniel Gros, director of the Centre for European Policy Studies, a Brussels-based think tank, says that Athens might ultimately require more than € 400 billion ($ 565 billion) in official support - almost 200% of its GDP today. But if Greece were forced to abandon the euro after a messy default, its nominal GDP would likely be halved. "In that case, the Greek government's debt to its euro-zone partners would be equivalent to 400% of its GDP, very little of which would be repaid," he says. On July 11, euro zone finance ministers all but conceded that Greece is likely to default as they tried to agree a scheme to encourage private and public sector bond-holders to swap existing Greek bonds for new, longer-maturing bonds, thereby giving the country more time to pay them back.
But the Greek default they are hoping to head off is just part of the crisis that is threatening to contaminate other euro-zone members. Borrowing costs have soared for Italy and Spain - respectively the third and fourth largest economies in the euro zone - despite hasty pledges from their finance ministers to take further debt-cutting measures. (See the Top 10 Things You Didn't Know About Money.)
Italy and Spain insist that they are secure, but their economies are increasingly seen by markets as the next in a line of dominos: yields on both of their 10-year bonds are now hovering around 6%, meaning the interest rates on their debts are twice as high as those on Germany's. They are nearing the unaffordable levels that could trigger talk of default. Despite this, Spain's Finance Minister Elena Salgado insisted on Monday that Italy and Spain have "strong economies" and that there is no logic to them being affected by market instability.
The case of Italy is particularly worrisome for the euro zone: the country is a founding member of the European Union, a member of the G-8 and, by most accounts, the world's eighth biggest economy. Italian officials point to their large, diversified economy and their high savings rate as reasons to dismiss the market jitters. But not only does the country have a debt-to-GDP ratio of 120%, economic growth is anemic: In the first quarter of this year it was just 0.1%, well below the euro zone average of 0.8%. That helps explain why the odds are shortening on Italy being the next European economy to receive a bailout - literally: Irish bookmaker Paddy Power says Italy is now odds-on to be bailed out by the end of this year, along with Spain

Boeing 787 Dreamliner makes first landing in Japan

Boeing 787 Dreamliner makes first landing in Japan :TOKYO - Boeing Co. 'S long-delayed 787 completed its maiden trans-Pacific journey and landed in Japan, where the more fuel-efficient jet will undergo testing this week with All Nippon Airways in preparation for its first commercial launch.
The "Dreamliner" touched down at Tokyo's Haneda Airport from Seattle early Sunday to applause and a white "Welcome to Japan" banner held by flight attendants and workers. Two fire trucks shot out celebratory arches of water as the aircraft approached the hangar.
ANA even offered a live video feed of the landing on Ustream. As of Sunday afternoon, the video had been viewed more than 37,000 times.
Pilot Masayuki Ishii said he stayed calm during the flight but grew emotional upon landing and seeing the excitement on the ground.
"I was moved beyond my own expectations," he told reporters.
The 787's much-anticipated arrival marks the near-end of a long wait by ANA, the first customer in line for the next-generation aircraft. Boeing missed the initial May 2008 delivery target and has repeatedly delayed its introduction because of problems in development.
The twin-engine jet is made mostly of carbon fiber and other composite materials instead of aluminum, making it lighter and 20 percent more fuel-efficient than other mid-sized airliners, according to Boeing.
As airlines around the world grapple with rising fuel prices, demand is high for low-consumption planes.
Chicago-based Boeing Co. has taken orders for 835 of the Dreamliners, and hopes to deliver the first one to ANA in August or September.
ANA has ordered 55 787s. Qantas and United Continental Holdings Inc. have each ordered 50, and Japan Airlines has ordered 35.
Rival Airbus' competitor with the 787, the A350, is scheduled to enter service with Qatar Airways in 2013. Airbus has racked up nearly 600 orders for the new jetliner, which is also made mainly of carbon-fiber polymers.
ANA, the world's eighth-largest airline by revenue, considers the Dreamliner an integral part of its global expansion efforts. Because of the 787's range, ANA plans to use it on a number of new long-haul routes that were not previously commercially viable because there were not enough passengers to justify using larger aircraft such as the Boeing 747.
The cabin will have bigger windows and larger overhead compartments. ANA also says passengers will be more comfortable because air pressure during flights will be equivalent to an altitude of 6,000 feet instead of the conventional 8,000 feet.
Masami Tsukamoto, another pilot who flew from Seattle on Sunday, said the higher oxygen level made a noticeable difference on the nine-hour trip.
"Maybe part of it was because we were excited, but compared to regular flights from Los Angeles or San Francisco, I didn't feel so tired," he said.
The test aircraft will fly several of ANA's domestic routes out of Tokyo this week to confirm the jet's readiness for passenger travel. Maintenance crews will also practice refueling, towing and other routine servicing operations.
It is scheduled to depart for Seattle on Saturday, according to ANA.
