Breast Cancer Awareness Month


Firefighters in Woodlands exchange their uniforms to pink shirts and caps and October for the second year to support the 2011 "sufficiently careful to wear pink" campaign.
This annual campaign supports national breast cancer awareness month. After skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer among women. However, screening tests, such as monthly self-breast examination, clinical and mammograms available which can often detect breast cancer at early stage.Early detection saves lives.
In addition to wearing pink, Woodlands firefighters are "sufficiently careful to wear pink" t-shirt and Cap Fund-raising during the month of October. Proceeds will go directly to local families cancer. a limited number of "sufficiently careful to wear pink" t-shirt and caps can be purchased by contacting Judy Kowis Fire Department in Woodlands at 281-367-3444.
"Care enough to wear pink" is a national campaign with the support of the International Association of fire fighters.
"We are delighted that wear pink for the second year and show our support for breast cancer awareness and education in the Woodlands," said Doug Adams, President of the Association of Professional firefighters of Woodlands. "The disease has touched many families in our community, and we hope to offer our support and encouragement through this work."
